  • Applications

Nerolidol (CAS 7212-44-4) is an aromatic sesquiterpene alcohol with a delicate woody-orange blossom scent that finds extensive use as a fragrance modifier and fixative in fine perfumes, soaps, shower gels and detergents, as a fruity flavouring agent in foods and beverages, as an ingredient in cosmeceuticals such as therapeutic shampoos and skin creams owing to its skin-penetrating and permeation-enhancing ability, and it is actively studied and applied as a drug carrier, transdermal enhancer, antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, termite-control and crop-protection agent, as well as an adjuvant against malaria, gastric ulcers, cancer and oxidative stress, thereby making it valuable across the fragrance, food, biomedical, agricultural and personal-care industries.
