    Acid axetic (axit axetic, CH₃COOH, CAS 64-19-7) được ứng dụng rộng rãi từ thực phẩm đến công nghiệp: là thành phần chính của giấm ăn để điều vị, bảo quản và khử khuẩn; dung môi và chất điều chỉnh pH trong sản xuất đồ uống, nước chấm, hương liệu; tiền chất tổng hợp acid acetic anhydride, acetate kim loại, vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) cho chế tạo nhựa EVA, sơn, keo, sợi cellulose acetate; tác nhân rửa và tẩy cặn trong ngành dệt nhuộm, da giày, thiết bị y tế; dung dịch đệm và chất cố định màu trong công nghệ in ấn, nhiếp ảnh; phụ gia trong dược phẩm, mỹ phẩm và thuốc trừ sâu; chất xúc tiến phản ứng ester hóa, amid hóa trong phòng thí nghiệm; tác nhân khử mùi, khử trùng, làm sạch bề mặt, đồng thời được sử dụng trong xử lý nước, sản xuất pin, dầu khí, chất ức chế ăn mòn và làm chất chuẩn trong phân tích chromatographic.
