    Nonyl alcohol (n-nonanol, CAS 143-08-8) is a C9 straight-chain fatty alcohol that appears as a colorless liquid with a mild odor, widely used as an intermediate for producing nonylphenol ethoxylate surfactants, PVC plasticizers, lubricant and metal-working oil additives, solvents in inks and coatings, fragrance and flavor ingredient in cosmetics and food, defoaming agent in pulp and textile processes, as well as a reference compound in insect pheromone research and agricultural pest management.
