Applications
Methyl cinnamate (methyl trans-cinnamate), CAS 103-26-4, is an ester with a sweet strawberry-cinnamon scent widely used as a flavoring in confectionery, beverages and baked goods; as a warm fixative and UV absorber note in perfumes, soaps and cosmetics; as an additive in tobacco, toothpaste and mouthwash to mask off-flavors; as an intermediate for anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant pharmaceuticals; in agriculture as an insect attractant or repellent and natural fungicide; as a green solvent, polymer additive, precursor for organic semiconductors, photoinitiators and a platform for nano-drug delivery systems, thanks to its safety, biodegradability and plant-derived availability.
