Cedarwood is one of the first three aromatic materials ever used in the world. In ancient times, it was often present in church purification rituals alongside Vetiver and Sage.

Among the different cedarwood varieties, Virginia Cedarwood is the most common. It carries a distinctive scent — dry, richly woody, slightly oily, smooth, full-bodied, with a pronounced sweetness that becomes drier and sweeter in the drydown. Compared to other cedarwood types, it offers a warm, clean woody note with a sweeter nuance. SCENT directly sources this oil from the United States — the tree’s native land — to deliver the most authentic and robust aroma.

Blending

Cedarwood is one of the most widely used raw materials in perfumery, making it extremely versatile. It can be paired with other woody notes such as Patchouli, Vetiver, or Sandalwood, but its most harmonious blends are often with fruity, floral, and citrus accords. These combinations create a naturally warm fragrance — a dry, lightly sweet wood note with a subtle leathery undertone.

The scent of Virginia Cedarwood is often described as pencil shavings — dry, dense, and warm. It appears in most men’s fragrances for its ability to convey cleanliness, warmth, and a strong sense of trust.

Aromatherapy

In aromatherapy, cedarwood essential oil is widely valued for its antibacterial properties, acne treatment, pain relief, stress and anxiety reduction, sleep support, and hair growth stimulation. Its main constituents — Cedrol, Alpha-Cedrene, Beta-Cedrene, and Thujopsene — are responsible for both its characteristic scent and therapeutic effects.

Only natural, steam-distilled cedarwood essential oil contains these therapeutic benefits — take care to avoid synthetic blends.

Use only under the guidance of a doctor and aromatherapy specialists.
Do not self-administer essential oils for ingestion or medical treatment.
