Applications
Lauric acid (CAS 143-07-7) is widely used in the food industry as a preservative and flavor enhancer for coconut-based products, in cosmetics as a key ingredient in soaps, moisturizers and shampoos due to its antibacterial, foaming and emollient properties, in pharmaceuticals as an excipient that improves drug bioavailability, in the manufacture of surfactants, bio-lubricants, candle waxes and molding resins, and is also being explored as a feedstock for biofuels and microencapsulated agrochemical formulations.
