Applications
Heptyl alcohol (1-heptanol, CAS 111-70-6) serves widely as a versatile solvent for resins, oils and poorly water-soluble actives, an intermediate for fragrance and flavor esters, a volatility controller in paints, inks, foaming agents and surfactants, a precursor to plasticizers and ester-based lubricants for flexible polymers, an anti-freeze and corrosion-inhibiting additive in fuels, and it is also incorporated into pesticide formulations, disinfectants, specialty cleaners and petrochemical or biochemical research applications.
