Applications
Cyclohexanol, 2-methyl-5-(1-methylethenyl)-, (1R,2R,5R)-rel- (CAS 38049-26-2) is a chiral cyclic terpenoid alcohol used primarily as a fragrance and odor-modulating ingredient in fine fragrance, cosmetics, personal care, and cleaning products (imparting p-menthane-like herbal/citrus facets), as a trace flavor adjunct where permitted, and as an intermediate for preparing fragrance esters, carbamates and carbonates, menthane-derived odorants, and other terpenoid scaffolds; in R&D it serves as a chiral reference and stereodefined building block for enantiomer separations, terpene biotransformation studies, and aroma-chemical process development, as well as in microencapsulation and pro-fragrance systems for controlled scent release in candles, air care diffusers, deodorizers, and detergents.
