Applications
Cis-3-Hexenyl butyrate (CAS 16491-36-4) is a naturally occurring green-fruity ester found in young leaves, apples and berries, widely used as a flavouring agent in soft drinks, confectionery, yogurts, baked goods and alcoholic beverages, as a freshness booster in fine fragrances, air-care products, cosmetics and personal-care formulations, and also studied in agriculture as a semiochemical that attracts pollinators or beneficial predators for ecological pest control, enhances plant defence signalling, and masks pesticide odours, thus playing an important role across food and flavour manufacturing, perfumery, cosmetics and environmentally friendly crop-protection technologies.
