Applications
p-Menth-3-en-1-ol (CAS 586-82-3) is a monoterpene alcohol with a distinctive herbal–citrus note, used primarily as a fragrance and odor modifier in fine fragrances, scented candles, deodorants, personal care products, and household cleaners; in flavor applications it is dosed at very low levels to add fresh, minty-green accents to confectionery, beverages, bakery flavors, and mint-type profiles in compliance with regulations; in cosmetic/perfumery chemistry it serves as an intermediate to make fruity/flowery terpenyl esters and can function as a co-solvent to improve fragrance solubility/stability; furthermore, owing to moderate volatility and in‑vitro antimicrobial tendencies typical of monoterpene alcohols, p-menth-3-en-1-ol is considered as a natural-leaning deodorizing/preservative-support component in essential-oil-based formulations, as well as a useful building block in aroma-organic synthesis.
