Applications
p,α-Dimethylstyrene (CAS 1195-32-0) is an aromatic monomer mainly employed as a comonomer to tailor the properties of high-performance styrenic and acrylic resins, where the para and α methyl groups raise the glass-transition temperature, enhance mechanical strength and chemical resistance; it is also used to generate precursors for highly porous ion-exchange resins, clear molding plastics, heat-resistant adhesives, protective coatings for electronic devices, high-refractive-index optical materials, and serves as an intermediate for synthesizing ring-containing derivatives in agrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.
