Applications
Jasmine lactone (CAS 25524-95-2) is widely used in fragrance and flavor applications for its creamy jasmine, ripe fruity (peach, apricot, coconut), and lactonic facets: in fine fragrance it softens and rounds accords, bridges top-to-heart notes, boosts diffusion and longevity, and pairs well with jasmonates, indole, hedione, muguet, and fruity notes; in personal care and home care (body wash, lotions, shampoos, soaps, detergents, candles, air care) it adds warmth, creaminess, and naturality to floral–fruity themes and can mask fatty/waxy bases; in flavors, it is used at trace/ppm levels to reinforce and naturalize peach, apricot, coconut, dairy and ice cream profiles, jasmine tea, fruit beverages, and plant-based dairy, helping to suppress beany/protein off-notes and smooth the aftertaste; technically, it is soluble in ethanol and oils, generally compatible with fragrance solvents, may be sensitive to strong alkali/oxidation and is sometimes microencapsulated for laundry applications; it is also used as an analytical reference and in sensory research; usage must comply with IFRA/FEMA guidance and applicable local regulations.
