    Lauric aldehyde (dodecanal, CAS 112-54-9) is a 12-carbon straight-chain fatty aldehyde with a sweet, creamy, slightly citrus odor that finds broad use in flavor and fragrance industries to impart coconut, milky and confectionery notes to perfumes, soaps, detergents and scented candles; in food technology it is an FDA/GRAS-recognized flavoring agent enhancing the taste profile of biscuits, chewing gum, beverages and dairy analogues; in pharmaceuticals and personal-care products it masks active-ingredient odors, provides a soft sensory touch and prolongs aroma longevity; additionally, the compound serves as an intermediate for synthesizing surfactants, bio-insecticides and pheromones for pest control, and acts as an odor modifier in rubber, plastics, paints and lubricants, owing to its low volatility, good solvent compatibility and high stability under industrial processing conditions.
