Applications
2-Nonanol (CAS 628-99-9) is a medium-chain alkanol with a mild fatty odor widely employed as a fragrance modifier in perfumes, soaps, detergents and cosmetics; as a creamy note in food flavor formulations for confectionery, baked goods and beverages; as a solvent or intermediate in organic synthesis to produce esters, plasticizers, surfactants and pesticides; as a fuel and lubricant additive that enhances flow properties and cetane number; and as a research precursor for insect-pheromone technology and as a reactive medium in the preparation of specialty polymer materials.
