Applications
A stereodefined monoterpenoid allylic alcohol ((1R,4R)-rel), it is used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, personal care and household products, and as a flavoring note (herbal–citrus–woody depending on purity); as an intermediate to access related terpenes/esters/ketones and to fine-tune aroma profiles; as a chiral building block in asymmetric synthesis; for in vitro studies of bioactivity (antimicrobial, antioxidant, insect attractant/repellent) and oxidative/epoxidation transformations; as a GC/MS reference marker in essential oil analysis; and as a potential “green” solvent, skin-permeation enhancer, or microencapsulated aroma in formulations, subject to applicable safety and regulatory constraints.
