    Axit lauric (CAS 143-07-7) được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong công nghiệp thực phẩm như chất bảo quản và tạo hương béo cho sữa dừa, trong mỹ phẩm làm thành phần xà phòng, kem dưỡng ẩm, dầu gội nhờ đặc tính kháng khuẩn, tạo bọt và làm mềm da, trong dược phẩm dùng làm tá dược giúp tăng sinh khả dụng của thuốc, trong sản xuất chất hoạt động bề mặt, chất bôi trơn sinh học, sáp nến, nhựa ép, đồng thời được nghiên cứu làm nguyên liệu cho nhiên liệu sinh học và vi nang hóa chất bảo vệ thực vật.
