    Isoamyl alcohol (còn gọi là isoamylol hoặc isopentyl alcohol, CAS 123-51-3) là một rượu bậc một có mùi chuối chín đặc trưng, được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong công nghiệp hương liệu – thực phẩm để pha chế tinh dầu chuối, lê, táo và các hỗn hợp hương trái cây tổng hợp; trong sản xuất nước hoa và mỹ phẩm như một chất điều biến mùi, tăng độ bền hương và cải thiện khả năng hòa tan tinh dầu thơm; trong ngành sơn, mực in và nhựa nitrocellulose như dung môi có điểm sôi trung bình giúp kiểm soát tốc độ bay hơi và độ bóng màng; trong phòng thí nghiệm sinh học – hóa học như dung môi chiết DNA, RNA, protein, alkaloid và làm tá chất điều chỉnh phân pha trong chiết lỏng-lỏng; trong công nghệ nhiên liệu sinh học như một thành phần fusel oil được tách từ dịch lên men rượu để phối chế nhiên liệu pha trộn; đồng thời còn được dùng làm tác nhân acyl hóa, nguyên liệu tổng hợp isoamyl acetate, isoamyl nitrit, chất hoạt động bề mặt, phụ gia dầu bôi trơn, thuốc trừ sâu và trung gian dược phẩm.
