Applications
Bisabolol (CAS 515-69-5), also known as alpha-bisabolol/levomenol, is a sesquiterpene alcohol from German chamomile and the candeia tree valued for soothing, anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant effects, enabling broad use in cosmetics and dermocosmetics: it reduces UV-induced erythema and stinging from acids, retinoids or shaving; supports barrier repair, sensitive-skin routines, acne and post-blemish care; calms itch and flaking in scalp/body products; provides mild antibacterial/antifungal benefits useful in oral care, deodorants and aftershaves; enhances penetration of co-actives and acts as a fragrance note/fixative with a soft sweet woody-floral odor; typically used at 0.1–1% in creams, serums, gels, cleansers, sunscreens, makeup and baby care, and appears in topical therapeutics to mitigate mild inflammation and aid re-epithelialization; it is compatible with emulsions, anhydrous systems and surfactant bases and remains stable across typical cosmetic pH, making it a popular soothing booster to improve formula tolerance.
