  • Applications

alpha-Campholenal (CAS 4501-58-0) is a terpenoid aldehyde with a woody–pine–herbal character, widely applied in fine fragrances and functional perfumery to boost diffusion and freshness in citrus, lavender, fougère, and outdoor accords; its good alkaline stability makes it valuable in soaps, detergents, hard-surface cleaners, air care, and fabric care, and it acts as a modifier/coupler with citral, linalool, eucalyptol, and the C10–C14 aldehydes; it also serves as a synthetic intermediate to terpene-based aroma chemicals and alcohol/oxime/imine derivatives, a substrate in selective/enantioselective reduction and catalysis studies, and for sensory calibration of camphoraceous notes; occasionally it is used at trace levels in flavorings to impart pine-cool nuances to mint or herbal/spice profiles, with careful dose control and adherence to flavor safety guidelines.
