Applications
(1R)-endo-(+)-Fenchyl alcohol (CAS 2217-02-9) is a stable, pine–herbal–camphoraceous monoterpenoid used broadly as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, air care, candles, personal care and cleansing products, and oral care to deliver fresh green top notes, enhance diffusion and substantivity, and as a low-level flavoring agent in foods, beverages, and confectionery; in advanced organic synthesis its defined chirality makes it a useful asymmetric building block and intermediate (amenable to esterification, oxidation to fenchone, and conversion to carbamate/urethane derivatives) for accessing monoterpenoid series, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and as an analytical reference standard for separation, quantification, and enantioresolution studies; additionally, owing to reported antimicrobial and deodorizing properties, it is employed in deodorant and hygiene formulations and in aromatherapy, with safety and labeling governed by IFRA standards and applicable cosmetic and food regulations.
