Benzoin Siam Resinoid is extracted from the golden resin tears of the Styrax tonkinensis tree, commonly known in Vietnam as Bo De, An Tuc Huong, or Canh Kien Trang. These large trees grow naturally in the mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam. Traditionally valued for its medicinal properties, Benzoin resin has long been harvested as a precious ingredient in traditional medicine. Its beautifully sweet aroma has also made it an essential component of many distinctly Oriental fragrance compositions.

Each resin tear is carefully hand-harvested in the mountains and transported to an extraction facility, where the aromatic resinoid is obtained through solvent extraction. SCENT offers Benzoin Siam Resinoid diluted to 50% in PG (Propylene Glycol), reducing the thick, viscous consistency of the pure resinoid and making it easier to work with in fragrance formulations. Benzoin Siam Resinoid has a rich, warm sweetness reminiscent of vanilla, but with greater depth and creamy caramel nuances accompanied by woody undertones. In perfumery, it adds warmth, roundness, and cohesion, helping to harmonize the different elements of the base notes.

Manufactured in Vietnam

Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country known for its rich culture, history, and natural beauty. The country is also a leading producer of essential oils, thanks to its diverse plant species and favorable climate. Vietnamese essential oils are highly regarded for their purity and therapeutic properties. Some of the most popular essential oils from Vietnam include agarwood (oud), lemongrass, cinnamon, and basil. These oils are widely used in aromatherapy, cosmetics, and traditional medicine due to their soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects.

Blending

Benzoin Siam Resinoid is commonly used to introduce sweet, balsamic, and warm vanilla-like nuances. It softens woody, resinous, and spicy notes while blending them into a smooth, harmonious composition.

In floral compositions, Benzoin Siam Resinoid provides a gentle, sweet foundation that adds richness and roundness to the overall fragrance. When paired with warm spices, it enhances the distinctly Oriental character of a composition. Even a small amount in citrus fragrances can create a pleasant, warm contrast in the base notes. It can be combined with Labdanum, Frankincense, Myrrh, or woody notes to build a deep, warm amber accord, or blended with Vanilla, Tonka Bean, and Cacao to develop gourmand compositions.

Aromatherapy

The sweet, comforting warmth of Benzoin Siam Resinoid creates a cozy, soothing atmosphere, making it particularly suitable for woody, resinous, and spicy fragrance compositions. Its aroma evokes a sense of warmth, tranquility, and quiet comfort without leaning too heavily into a gourmand character.

Benzoin resin has a history of use spanning thousands of years in perfumery and traditional medicine. However, this product should be used solely for its aromatic properties and sensory experience, rather than as a medicinal treatment.

Use only under the guidance of a doctor and aromatherapy specialists.
