One of its most iconic uses is in combination with lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin to build the firm structural backbone of the Fougère family. Trèfle and Fougère can be considered close relatives because both rely on the classic framework of lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin. The difference lies in their character: while Fougère tends toward a drier, sharper, and more masculine expression, Trèfle is sweeter, greener, and more floral, largely because of the more pronounced presence of salicylate materials. Users should note that it may cause skin irritation or sensitization at high concentrations and is toxic to aquatic life, though it is not phototoxic.
