Applications
Sabinol (CAS 3310-02-9) is a monoterpene alcohol with a pine‑herbal, slightly camphoraceous odour, used mainly in perfumery to enrich green, resinous and woody facets in fine fragrances, soaps, detergents, deodorants and air‑care products; in flavour applications it may be employed at very low levels as a supporting note for minty, juniper and conifer profiles, subject to applicable food‑flavour safety and local regulations; in organic synthesis Sabinol serves as a convenient intermediate for fragrance esters (e.g., sabinyl acetate) and other terpenic derivatives and as a useful building block for research, and it is also used as an analytical reference in GC–MS profiling of conifer/juniper essential oils; additionally, its volatility and clean freshness can lift top notes and help mask base‑note off‑odours in many consumer formulations.
