  • Applications

Ethyl acetate (ethyl ethanoate, CAS 141-78-6) is a volatile organic solvent with a pleasant fruity odor that finds extensive use across industries: in coatings and varnishes it lowers viscosity, accelerates drying and yields smooth glossy finishes; in the manufacture of printing inks, adhesives, artificial leather and composite materials it efficiently dissolves nitrocellulose, acrylics, polyurethanes and other resins, ensuring uniform flow and strong adhesion; in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics it serves as an extraction medium, recrystallization solvent, perfume carrier and nail-polish remover; in food technology and flavor production it acts as a flavor carrier, decaffeination agent for coffee and aid in sugar and essential-oil purification; in laboratories it is part of chromatography solvent systems and insect preservation fluids; additionally it is regenerated as an electronics cleaner, automotive paint solvent, film-processing and bioplastic treatment solvent, and its rapid biodegradability and low toxicity make it compliant with stricter environmental regulations compared with many halogenated solvents.
