Applications
Delta-Terpineol (CAS 7299-42-5) is a monoterpene alcohol with a pleasant pine/floral note, used widely as a fragrance ingredient in perfumery, soaps, shampoos, deodorants, candles, and household cleaners; as a co-solvent, wetting/flow modifier, and viscosity controller in inks, coatings, adhesives, and sealants; as a high-boiling vehicle/solvent for screen-printable thick-film pastes and ceramic inks in electronics due to its evaporation profile and rheology; to boost hard-surface cleaning by dissolving oils, adhesives, and inks while leaving a pleasant scent; as a low-level flavoring to impart pine/citrus nuances in beverages and confectionery; as a synthetic intermediate to make terpinyl esters (e.g., terpinyl acetate) and other terpene derivatives for fragrance, resins, and surfactants; occasionally as a frother in mineral flotation; and as a bio-based, biodegradable solvent option for “green” formulations, with reported antimicrobial activity that can support deodorizing performance in some systems.
