    Tricosane (CAS 638-67-5) là ankan mạch thẳng C23H48 dạng rắn sáp có điểm nóng chảy xấp xỉ 47–49 °C, vì vậy thường được dùng làm vật liệu chuyển pha (PCM) để lưu trữ và điều hòa nhiệt trong sơn, vữa, vật liệu xây dựng, dệt may vi nang, bao bì và thiết bị điện tử hoạt động quanh nhiệt độ này; là thành phần điều chỉnh độ cứng, điểm mềm và độ bóng trong phối trộn sáp (nến, sáp đánh bóng, phủ chống ẩm và chống ăn mòn), đồng thời đóng vai trò chất bôi trơn khô/đặc và tác nhân chống dính khuôn cho nhựa và cao su; trong phân tích, nó là chất chuẩn n-ankan để hiệu chuẩn chỉ số lưu giữ và thời gian lưu trên GC/GC-MS cũng như làm chuẩn nội/chuẩn đối chiếu trong phân tích dầu mỏ, polyme và môi trường; trong nghiên cứu và phát triển, tricosane được dùng như hợp chất mô hình cho động học kết tinh, hành vi pha, phân tích nhiệt (DSC), và là chất tham chiếu/cấu phần trong các nghiên cứu hydrocarbon bề mặt sinh học (ví dụ ở côn trùng), cũng như làm pha kỵ nước trơ cho thử nghiệm vật liệu và các hệ vi bao hoặc composite sáp-polyme.
