    Ethyl palmitate (CAS 628-97-7) là este ethyl của acid palmitic, được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong nhiều lĩnh vực nhờ tính chất trơ hóa học, mùi nhẹ dễ chịu và khả năng tương hợp sinh học cao; trong công nghiệp mỹ phẩm, nó đóng vai trò chất làm mềm da, chất điều hòa, tác nhân mang hương và chất cố định hương, giúp cải thiện độ mượt và khả năng thẩm thấu của kem dưỡng, son môi, dầu gội và các sản phẩm chống nắng; trong dược phẩm, ethyl palmitate được dùng như dung môi hỗ trợ hệ mang thuốc lipid, thành phần của vi nhũ tương và liposome, đồng thời làm chất chuẩn cho phân tích định lượng acid béo nhằm theo dõi chuyển hóa lipid; trong thực phẩm, hợp chất này được FDA cho phép dùng làm chất tạo hương trái cây, sữa và bánh kẹo, đồng thời cải thiện cảm quan chất béo trong sản phẩm thay thế bơ sữa; trong hóa dầu, nó là thành phần của dầu bôi trơn gốc ester, làm giảm ma sát, tăng khả năng chịu nhiệt và sinh học phân hủy, thích hợp cho máy móc thực phẩm và thiết bị y tế; trong nghiên cứu nhiên liệu sinh học, ethyl palmitate được sử dụng như mô hình phản ứng để khảo sát cơ chế cháy của biodiesel và tối ưu hóa điều kiện xúc tác; ngoài ra, nó còn làm chất đối chiếu nội tại trong sắc ký khí, sắc ký lỏng hiệu năng cao, hỗ trợ định danh chuỗi ethyl ester khác cũng như đánh giá chất lượng dầu thực vật.
