    Axit decanoic (axit capric, CAS 334-48-5) là axit béo mạch trung có dải ứng dụng rất rộng: được este hóa để tạo hương dứa, dâu, kem sữa trong thực phẩm; dùng trong mỹ phẩm – chăm sóc cá nhân để sản xuất xà phòng, chất hoạt động bề mặt, kem dưỡng với đặc tính kháng khuẩn và khử mùi; làm tá dược lipid, thành phần dầu MCT cho chế độ ăn ketogenic hỗ trợ điều trị động kinh, Alzheimer; làm chất bôi trơn, chất dẻo hóa, phụ gia PVC, chất ổn định nhiệt, tác nhân tách khuôn, tiền chất ester glycidyl cho nhựa epoxy, muối kim loại (Zn, Zr, Ti…) dùng làm chất xúc tác, chất làm khô sơn, phủ chống bám; là chất mang thuốc thú y, phụ gia thức ăn chăn nuôi ức chế vi sinh; đồng thời được khai thác cho vật liệu chuyển pha tích trữ nhiệt, dung môi sinh học, chất chiết hiếm và đang được nghiên cứu như tác nhân kháng nấm, kháng vi rút, nguyên liệu sinh tổng hợp vật liệu phân hủy sinh học.
