Macrolide Supra (CAS# 106-02-5) is a high-grade macrocyclic musk (macrocyclic lactone), also known as Pentadecan-15-olide, Exaltolide or omega-Pentadecalactone. It is a synthetic musk with a structure related to natural musk components found in ambrette seed and angelica root extracts, offering high purity, excellent stability and a significantly better biodegradability profile than many traditional musk types.

Its odour profile is musky and lactonic, soft and highly refined: a clean, slightly powdery musk with a warm aura, highlighted by gentle floral nuances, hints of red fruits and a light vanillic sweetness. At low dosage it gives a smooth “skin-scent” effect that feels intimate and enveloping; at higher levels it brings volume, depth and a luxurious, long-lasting musky warmth to the entire composition.

In perfumery and fragrance applications, Macrolide Supra is used as a key base note and fixative, especially effective in white floral, powdery, woody, red-fruity, chypre and gourmand creations. It performs very well in combination with other macrocyclic musks, sandalwood and cedarwood notes, patchouli, ambroxide and various lactones (peach, apricot, milky facets), adding roundness, softness and greatly enhancing diffusion and substantivity on skin, hair, textiles and in home fragrance products such as fabric softeners, detergents, room sprays, candles and soaps.

Macrolide Supra is a colourless to white solid at room temperature that can be gently melted or pre-diluted for easier handling. It is readily soluble in standard perfumery solvents and is typically used from trace amounts up to a few percent of the concentrate, depending on the desired impact and end use. Combining long-lasting performance with a more sustainable profile, it is an excellent choice for creating modern, elegant musky accords across fine fragrance, personal care and home care formulations.
