Isononyl Acetate (CAS# 40379-24-6) is a branched-chain ester with a modern, bright fruity odour and very good diffusion. Its main character is crisp, juicy fruit in the apple–pear direction, with light banana nuances, soft citrus facets and a subtle green touch. Thanks to its branched structure, it gives a particularly “juicy”, clean and natural impression, filling out the olfactive space and adding liveliness to compositions.

In fine fragrance, Isononyl Acetate is typically used in the top notes and carried gently into the heart, creating a transparent fruity opening. It supports apple, pear, peach, plum and pineapple accords, as well as many mixed fruity bouquets. It blends very well with citrus notes (orange, lemon, bergamot), green and aldehydic notes and light florals, helping to soften sharp edges in the formula and to smooth the transition from top to heart notes. Even at low dosages, it can noticeably enhance the lift and freshness of the entire composition.

In personal care and home care, Isononyl Acetate is valued for its pleasant, universally appealing fruity scent, making it suitable for laundry detergents, fabric softeners, floor cleaners, air fresheners, toilet blocks, bathroom cleaners, hair care, shower gels and more. It is a colourless liquid, easily soluble in perfumer’s alcohol and most common fragrance solvents, with good odour stability in slightly alkaline environments and on fabrics. Thanks to its stability and friendly profile, Isononyl Acetate is a versatile building block for formulas requiring a clean, fresh fruity tone across many different product categories.
