Citropol® F (INCI name: Polycitronellol) is a high-performing fragrance fixative and carrier that adheres to the strict standards of the "Clean Beauty" movement. This product comes in the form of a clear, colorless to slightly yellow liquid that is practically odorless or has a very slight fresh scent.

The most prominent feature of Citropol® F is its ability to enhance fragrance longevity in cosmetic and perfume formulations. This active ingredient offers a dual benefit: it provides an immediate and strong initial scent impression while ensuring a controlled release of volatile ingredients over an extended period of time. This mechanism is particularly effective in maintaining and extending the life of top and middle fragrance notes, which typically evaporate much faster than base notes. Studies have demonstrated that when used at a 10% concentration, Citropol® F can retain up to 40% of top notes and 60% of middle notes after 4 hours of application.

Citropol® F is an excellent sustainable alternative, being 100% biorenewable, biodegradable, and biocompatible. The product achieves a perfect Natural Origin Index of 1.00 and has proven to be inherently biodegradable according to the OECD 301B test. The raw materials used to produce Citropol® F are terpenes derived from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified pine. This feedstock is upcycled from a side-stream byproduct (turpentine) of the paper-making process, ensuring a clean manufacturing process that is highly eco-friendly. Furthermore, for every kilogram of Citropol® F sold, the manufacturer commits to planting a tree to contribute to CO2 absorption.

Offering hydrolytic stability and the ability to solubilize a wide variety of essential oils and fragrance ingredients, Citropol® F is highly versatile. It is widely applied across multiple product formats, including fine fragrances, hair styling products, shampoos, conditioners, skin creams (face, hand, and body), soaps, and deodorants. The generally recommended use level ranges from 1% to 5% depending on the specific application; however, the product remains highly effective even at low concentrations starting from 0.5%.
