Citronellyl Acetate (CAS# 150-84-5) is an ester obtained from citronellol and acetic acid. It appears as a colorless to slightly pale-yellow liquid with a soft, bright and pleasant odour. Its scent profile is a characteristic citrus–floral accord, reminiscent of a blend of lemon and fresh citrus fruits wrapped in a gentle rose nuance, with a touch of smooth fruity sweetness. Thanks to its round, mellow character and good blending behavior, this material is often used as a “linking note” to smooth and unify different parts of a fragrance composition.

In perfumery, Citronellyl Acetate is particularly suitable for citrus, floral, fougère and modern cologne themes, where it helps boost freshness in the top notes while extending the citrus–floral brightness into the heart.
