Ambermor (CAS# 6790-58-5) is a modern woody–amber molecule from IFF, developed as an “amber backbone” for many woody–musky–amber fragrance structures. In its pure form it appears as white crystals. This is a high-purity synthetic aroma ingredient with the molecular formula C₁₆H₂₈O, easy to store and highly stable in a wide range of bases and product types.

Olfactively, Ambermor offers a powerful, dry amber character with a pronounced woody facet, cushioned by a soft warm sweetness, a slightly earthy nuance, subtle musky tones and a very refined, non-harsh animalic touch. It feels both luxurious and clean, yet deep and textured, evoking a contemporary ambergris effect that wraps around the wearer, clings to the skin and beautifully supports the top and heart notes above it.

Ambermor has a low odor threshold and performs strongly in both heart and base notes, with excellent substantivity on skin and blotter, often exceeding 48 hours under standard test conditions. Thanks to its persistence and strong “linking” power, it can serve both as the main woody–amber theme and as a fixative that thickens and prolongs floral, citrus, resinous or spicy accords within a composition. Typical usage levels range from trace amounts up to about 5% of the formula, depending on the desired olfactive impact and product category.

The application range of Ambermor is very broad: from fine fragrance, body mists and personal care products to soaps, detergents, fabric conditioners, scented candles and other home fragrance items. Even in demanding bases such as bar soap or heavy-duty detergents, Ambermor maintains impressive stability and long-lasting performance, enhancing the overall impression of warmth, comfort and understated luxury. Sharing the same “DNA” as materials like Ambroxan/Ambrox-type ingredients, Ambermor is an ideal choice whenever a clean, modern, highly diffusive woody–amber note is needed that can blend seamlessly into many different fragrance styles.
