trans-p-Menth-2-ene-1,4-diol (CAS 40735-19-1) is a monoterpenoid diol researched and used as a flavor and fragrance ingredient and cooling-sensation booster in confectionery, beverages, chewing gum, oral-care and cosmetic products; as a deodorizing/antimicrobial adjunct in personal-care and household cleaners; as a skin-feel modulator and humectant; and as a versatile intermediate/building block for synthesizing menthane/menthene derivatives (cooling agents, aroma chemicals, cosmeceutical actives), as well as being studied for bioactivity (antimicrobial, antioxidant) and used as a technical odor-modifying additive in consumer materials.
