Applications
Sesquicineole (CAS 90131-02-5) is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene oxide found in eucalyptus-type essential oils, used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, personal care and household cleaners for its herbal–woody, lightly camphoraceous note and fixative character; as a low-level flavor additive in foods, beverages and confectionery; as a bio-based solvent and solubilizer/vehicle in cosmetics and topical formulations; as a skin permeation enhancer in gels/creams; as an odor-modulating component in deodorants and oral-care products; as a functional aroma in air-care and insect-control products; as an extraction aid and performance booster for industrial cleaners via surface-tension reduction and terpene solvency; as a synthetic intermediate for aroma–cosmetic materials; as an analytical marker/standard for authentication of eucalyptus oils; and as a research target for antimicrobial, antioxidant and green-material applications.
