Applications
Perillyl acetate (CAS 15111-96-3) is a natural monoterpene ester with a citrus–herbal, slightly minty odor, used primarily in fragrance and flavor applications to impart fresh, clean, and long‑lasting notes to perfumes, deodorants, soaps, detergents, candles, and personal care products, as well as a flavoring for beverages, confectionery, chewing gum, and baked goods; in chemical manufacturing it serves as a versatile intermediate convertible to perillyl alcohol and other terpene derivatives, functions as a pro‑fragrance that releases odor via hydrolysis to enhance stability and performance, and is sometimes employed as a volatile odoriferous solvent or aroma booster in bio‑based detergents and household cleaners.
