Applications
Myrcenol (CAS 543-39-5) is a monoterpene alcohol with a fresh citrus–lavender–green odor profile, used mainly in fragrances and as a synthetic intermediate: applied directly to boost bright, clean top notes in fine fragrances, air care, candles, soaps, shampoos, and some detergents; used at trace levels in flavors to impart citrus, herbal and hop-like nuances; most notably a key feedstock for dihydromyrcenol/dihydromyrcenyl acetate and other myrcenyl esters, as well as diverse terpene derivatives via oxidation, hydrogenation and esterification for the aroma industry; in R&D it serves as a building block for selective allylic transformations, asymmetric synthesis and natural-aroma mimicry; typically stabilized with antioxidants and stored away from light/air due to peroxide formation tendency, with use levels guided by safety frameworks (e.g., IFRA, irritation and formulation-stability assessments) in household and personal care applications.
