Applications
Menthadienol (CAS 3269-90-7) is a minty–herbal monoterpenoid alcohol used broadly in fragrance and flavor: it delivers fresh, green, slightly cooling top notes to fine fragrances, soaps, detergents, and personal/home care; modulates, diffuses, and prolongs cooling effects in blends with menthol, eucalyptol, or terpinen-4-ol; provides natural-style mint/herbal nuances for confectionery, chewing gum, beverages, and baked goods at trace dosage; enhances oral-cleanliness perception in toothpastes, mouthwashes, and other oral-care formats; serves as a scent component in polymers, fragrance microcapsules, and deodorizing systems; supports hygiene and malodor-control formulations via mild antimicrobial and deodorizing effects; functions as a synthetic intermediate/precursor in aroma chemistry toward menthol, carvone, and other monoterpene derivatives; is used as a reference standard in flavor–fragrance research, terpenoid biotransformations, and sensory evaluation; and is occasionally incorporated into topical or aromatherapeutic products for an airy, clearing sensation, subject to compliance with safety guidelines (e.g., IFRA, FEMA/GRAS where applicable), control of isomeric purity, and management of oxidative stability during storage and transport.
