  • Applications

Lauryl acetate (CAS 112-66-3) is the acetate ester of lauryl alcohol, valued for its sweet, pear-like odor and therefore widely employed as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, soaps, shampoos, lotions, antiperspirants and air fresheners; beyond cosmetics it acts as a flavor additive in chewing gum, confectionery and beverages, a plasticizer and lubricant in nail lacquers, inks, metalworking fluids and PVC formulations, a biodegradable solvent for water-borne coatings, a carrier for micro-encapsulated aromas, an insect attractant in pheromone traps, and an intermediate for synthesizing C12 sulfate and sulfonate surfactants, while its high flash point, good biodegradability and low mammalian toxicity support its use in industrial cleaners, agricultural adjuvants and other eco-friendly specialty chemical applications.
