Applications
Isobutyl acetate (CAS 110-19-0) is a mildly fruity-smelling ester widely used as a medium-fast evaporating solvent in wood lacquers, automotive topcoats, nitrocellulose and acrylic coatings, printing inks, industrial cleaners, adhesives and nail-polish removers; as an extraction and flavoring agent in foods, beverages, cosmetics and perfumes; as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals; and it is also being explored as a bio-gasoline component because of its clean combustion, biodegradability and fermentative production from ethanol and acetic acid, offering reduced hazardous VOCs while preserving gloss, coverage and flow in high-performance coating systems.
