Applications
γ-Dodecalactone (CAS 2305-05-7) is a peachy, creamy, coconut-like aroma compound widely employed as a flavoring agent in foods (confectionery, dairy, beverages, non-dairy analogs, canned fruit, baked goods), in tobacco and vaping liquids, as a perfumery and cosmetic ingredient for skin-care products, hair care, soaps and household cleaners to deliver a sweet fruity note and mask off-odors, and it is also used as a GC-MS calibration standard, a biosynthetic intermediate in microbial research, an insect attractant and a palatability enhancer in animal feed, owing to its high safety profile, moderate volatility and broad solvent compatibility.
