Applications
E-2-Tetradecen-1-ol (CAS 75039-86-0) is a long-chain unsaturated alcohol used primarily as an intermediate and geometrically defined building block in organic synthesis and formulated products: for esterification to produce fragrance/flavor ingredients and emollients with fatty/green notes, for ethoxylation or sulfonation to make nonionic or anionic surfactants for detergency and emulsification, and for oxidation/epoxidation to the corresponding aldehydes, acids, or epoxides; it is also used in agriculture as a component or precursor of semiochemicals/pheromones for pest lures and monitoring, in analysis as a GC/LC-MS reference or internal standard for pheromone and lipid studies, and in materials/coatings as a hydrophobic modifier or precursor to C14-tail esters, lubricants, plasticizers, and oligomers to improve wetting, slip, and compatibility; suitable for R&D requiring control of double-bond position (E-2) and chain length.
