    Citronellyl butyrate (CAS 141-16-2) is a fruity–floral fragrance ester with fresh citrus and rosy nuances, widely used in fine fragrances and functional scents for personal care, shampoos/body washes, soaps, detergents, fabric softeners, household cleaners, and air-care products such as sprays, candles, and reed diffusers; it lifts top notes, smooths harsh aldehydic/citrus facets, adds juicy pear–apricot, slightly tropical fruit tones, and works as a versatile modifier–blender in citrus, rose, muguet, and herbal accords; in flavors, it is applied at very low levels to impart or reinforce fruity–citrus–floral character in beverages, confectionery, chewing gum, syrups, dairy/frozen desserts, and baked goods, helping mask bitterness/metallic notes and round out lemon–lime, apple–pear, and tropical profiles; confirm formulation suitability and comply with safety limits, IFRA guidance, and local regulations before use.
