    cis-Ocimene epoxide (CAS 94607-48-4) is a highly reactive monoterpenoid epoxide used mainly as a synthetic intermediate in flavor and fragrance chemistry to generate oxygenated notes via ring-opening to diols, ethers, and amino alcohols and to fine-tune fruity-floral accords; as a starting point for selective transformations (asymmetric ring opening, dihydroxylation, halohydrin formation) in advanced organic synthesis; as a reference standard/marker in studies of essential-oil oxidation and aroma stability; and as a model substrate to probe Lewis/Brønsted acid catalysis and stereocontrol of nucleophilic epoxide opening on a conjugated system; it can also be explored in drug/agrochemical discovery as a tunable monoterpene scaffold after functionalization, and in certain UV-cationic curing systems as a reactive diluent or polyether building block when a small epoxide is desired, albeit typically at research scale.
