  • Applications

Cedrenol (CAS 2831-03-0) is a woody, warm, slightly sweet sesquiterpene alcohol from cedarwood oil used mainly in fragrance applications: it imparts woody/amber facets to fine fragrances, soaps, shampoos, deodorants, detergents, candles, and home-care products; acts as a fixative and rounder in blends, and serves as a building block for ester derivatives (e.g., acetates) and related aroma chemicals; serves as an authenticity marker and GC-MS reference for cedarwood oils; has been investigated for insect-repellent and antimicrobial roles in wood treatment and natural-product care; in formulation it dissolves well in oils/ethanol but poorly in water, is prone to oxidation so antioxidants are often added, and usage levels should follow current safety/IFRA guidance.
