    3-N-Butyl-4,5-dihydrophthalide (CAS 68038-10-8) is a natural-product-like phthalide applied in research and industry: used as a reference standard and chemical marker for celery and Ligusticum extracts; a synthetic intermediate for 3-n-butylphthalide analogs; a preclinical probe with reported neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet, vasodilatory, and antioxidant activities in models of cerebral ischemia, reperfusion injury, and microcirculatory dysfunction; a celery-type aroma component for food-flavor and perfumery development where permitted; and a candidate in formulation (nano delivery systems), pharmacokinetics/metabolism evaluation, and structure–activity screening for cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative disease research.
