  • Applications

2-Methoxy-4-propylphenol, also known as 4-propylguaiacol, is a natural phenolic compound that imparts smoky, woody, roasted-coffee notes in the flavour and fragrance industry and is used as a flavouring agent for beverages, smoked meats, BBQ sauces, candies and seasonings; it likewise serves as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis, as a deodorising ingredient in cosmetics, an antioxidant stabiliser for plastics, an antimicrobial additive in biopesticides, and a research probe for antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and food-preservation activities.
