    1(7),2-p-Menthadienol-(8) (CAS 65293-09-6) is a monoterpene alcohol with a characteristic minty–herbal–terpenic profile, used mainly in fragrance and flavor applications: in fine fragrance and personal care (body sprays, shampoos, shower gels, soaps, deodorants) to build and tune fresh, green, slightly woody nuances and to lift citrus/mint accords; in home and fabric care (surface cleaners, detergents, air care) to convey a clean, cooling impression; in mint, herbal or citrus flavors for confectionery, chewing gum, and oral-care at low flavor dosages; and as a synthetic intermediate for esterification (e.g., acetate/propionate) to obtain more stable, better-diffusing derivatives and top–middle note modulators; it is also used as a reference standard in aroma analysis; handle with protection from light, heat, and oxygen because monoterpenes are prone to oxidation.
