  • Applications

1-Tetradecene (CAS 1120-36-1) is a linear C14 alpha-olefin widely used as a feedstock and intermediate: oligomerized to polyalphaolefins (PAO) for high-performance lubricant base oils; hydroformylated/hydrogenated to C15 aldehydes and alcohols for surfactants (ethoxylates, sulfates/phosphates), amines, amides and esters; sulfonated to alpha-olefin sulfonates for detergents; transformed via epoxidation, chlorination or alkylation into corrosion inhibitors, plasticizer precursors and alkylaromatics (e.g., LAB, alkylphenols) for detergents and lube additives; converted to alkenyl succinic anhydrides (ASA) for paper sizing, corrosion inhibition and lubricant additives; used in oilfield chemicals (drilling-fluid lubricants, pour-point depressants, flow improvers, demulsifiers), and in coatings/adhesives/sealants as a hydrophobe/polymer modifier; also applied as a comonomer or chain-transfer/end-capping agent to tailor polyolefin and wax properties.
