Applications
1-Pentadecanol (CAS 629-76-5) is a straight-chain C15 fatty alcohol with hydrophobic, waxy characteristics, used as a feedstock for nonionic and anionic surfactants (ethoxylates, sulfates), as an emulsifier/co-emulsifier and rheology/consistency modifier in creams, emulsions, and personal care; as an emollient; as a precursor to fatty esters employed as lubricants, plasticizers, and defoamers; as an additive in metalworking fluids to enhance lubricity and corrosion inhibition; as a slip/anti-block aid in polymer processing, coatings, and inks; in wax and polish blends; as a low-odor fragrance fixative/solvent; as a phase-change material near its melting range for thermal management and energy storage; and in textile finishing, construction additives, and as an intermediate in agrochemical and pharmaceutical synthesis.
